What we verify about owners and vehicles, what happens on the day, and the optional cover you can add at checkout.
Before an owner can quote
PAN checked
Every owner’s PAN number and card photo, before they can quote.
RC and photos reviewed
Each vehicle’s registration certificate and photos are reviewed by our team. Photos are taken in the app, not uploaded from a gallery.
Bank account verified
A small test deposit proves the account is real and in the owner’s or business’s name.
Declared, and checkable
Owners declare a valid tourist permit, fitness certificate, insurance, PUC and the driver’s transport licence. Vihara can ask for them any time and suspends vehicles that don’t have them.
On the day
Driver details 3 hours before
Name, photo and languages of the person driving you, in the app.
Your OTP starts the trip
The trip begins only when you give the driver your pickup OTP, at the pickup point. Nobody is paid before that.
Odometer photos
Taken at the car’s location before and after the trip. You confirm each reading in the app.
Masked calls
You and the driver call each other through a masked number. Neither sees the other’s real number.
SOS
One tap alerts your emergency contacts and Vihara with your location.
Trip cover
Optional passenger cover you can add at checkout, from an insurer registered with IRDAI under a group policy. Vihara is not the insurer.
- Covers
- Accidental death or permanent disability up to ₹5,00,000 per traveller; hospital costs after an accident up to ₹1,00,000 per traveller.
- Period
- From the start odometer reading to the end reading.
- Price
- Per traveller per day, shown before you pay. Refunded in full if you cancel before the trip starts.
- Claims
- Report in the app within 24 hours (SOS or Help → Report an incident). The insurer settles directly with you.
Owners can add vehicle cover for the trip days on top of their own policy. Full summary: Trip insurance terms (draft, insurer to be named).
House rules
No alcohol for the driver, no cash outside the app, rest breaks, and no night driving unless agreed. Everyone follows the community and safety guidelines.
