The price is the owner’s. The terms are always on the quote.
A quote never shows one big number on its own. It shows the kilometres included and what happens after that, so the bill at the end matches what you agreed.
What’s in a quote
| Baseline km | Owner’s drive to your pickup + your route + drive back from your drop. Every quote shows this number. There is no minimum km per day. |
|---|---|
| Per-km rate | The owner’s rate for the baseline km. Baseline km × rate is the km fare. |
| Extra-km rate | Charged after the trip only if the odometer shows more than the baseline. Driving less is not refunded. |
| Driver bata | The driver’s daily allowance for food and stay, per day of the trip. It goes to the driver in full. |
| Extra-day rate | Only if you ask to extend the trip. Charged with that day’s bata. |
| Night charge | Only if the owner quotes one and you agree to drive between 22:00 and 06:00. |
| Day trips | Round trip or one-way, up to 10 destinations, finished the same day within 12 hours. The owner quotes a fixed amount for the baseline km, bata for the day and an extra-km rate, and may add an extra-hour rate for time beyond 12 hours. |
| Not in the fare | Tolls, parking, state permits, entry taxes and other road fees. You pay them directly as they come up. Vihara never collects them or marks them up. |

Fare questions
How do day trips work?
Like any trip: plan the route, ask owners to quote, compare and book. A day trip can be a round trip or one-way, with up to 10 destinations, as long as it fits in 12 hours and ends the same day; otherwise the app suggests a multi-day trip. Owners quote a fixed amount for the baseline km plus bata for the day, with an extra-km rate (and optionally an extra-hour rate after 12 hours) for anything beyond the plan. On a one-way trip the owner’s drive back from your drop is in the baseline km.
Why is the owner’s drive to my pickup included?
Every trip starts and ends where the car is parked. Counting that drive openly, and showing it on the quote, is fairer than a hidden ‘dead mileage’ charge, and it means a car parked near you costs less to bring to you.
What is the booking fee?
10% of the fare, at least ₹99 and at most ₹1,500, in whole rupees, plus 18% GST on the fee. It is Vihara’s charge to you and is shown before you pay. It is refunded only if the owner cancels. Owners pay their own fee to Vihara out of their fare; it is never added to your price.
How are extra kilometres measured?
From odometer photos the driver takes at the car’s location before leaving and after returning. You confirm each reading in the app and can dispute it within 48 hours of the trip ending.
What is the 20% mandate?
At checkout you authorise a UPI Autopay or card mandate of up to 20% of the fare, used only for extra km or extra days after the trip. You see the settlement statement before it is charged, and the owner can choose to reduce it.
